Question by cutiepie944: How do the themes of the Iliad relate to today’s world? I just need help with some ideas..?
Focus on a character or theme and relate it to how we see the influence of The Iliad in today’s news, politics, film, television, advertising, sports, fashion, comic books, or other areas not listed. Use at least two examples. Identify the features that relate to The Iliad and discuss how effective your example/s is/are in raising some of the same issues found in Homer’s Iliad

The wars of the middle east are near the same as the Iliad all involved are right and wrong by each others belief.

I just launched a clothing company . How do I get into the right magazines without having to pay for advertising. I was thinking along the lines of a product review. What does this process entail. Do I write to the editor of the magazine. Do I package my products as a gift? Help I have no answers.

All of your major mags will have web sites, you can submit material through there, the other way is have your friends (or coworkers) model your clothing, take pics and submit them that way. They are always looking for new talent, good luck…..

Question by King of CNN: Isn’t the whole strategy of propaganda sound truthful and just part of the news?
In the old days, the news department was carefully kept separate from the advertising and editorial department. In broadcast tv news that is obviously not the case. Those days are gone and the “news” business wants all messages to pass for fair, factual news because that is what sells best. Unbalanced “news” stories and graphics can make a huge difference in who is nominated and who is elected.

Do you see things differently? Does the media seem balanced and advertising never mixes with news? Sure smells fishy to millions of people I hear.

The media has moments of actually presenting unbiased factual news but the norm today is to sell a story and sway people to the agenda of the controlling interests. “News” today seems to include personal attacks on candidates.

Much of this is a result of networks being under pressure to boost ratings even during the news. The public would rather have the sensationalized, gossip column news than factual information.

Everytime I see local news advertising, they state something that’s supposedly going on or think might go on. And nothing ever is.

Yeah we just love us some baby drowners and cheatin’ husband runner-overs. Do you honestly think that’s the way true Houstonians feel? We’d like to get recognized for something nice once in a while – such as how nice everyone was when we had the superbowl here, or how our soccer team won the MLS cup the first year they were here, or how we have one of the top cancer treatment centers in the world. Maybe you should live somewhere else where things are exciting – like wherever they’ll be dropping a bomb next.
