Question by Yay Ah!: Which Usenet service should I subscribe to?
I’m not that computer savvy. So, anything that is affordable and easy to use with a lot of content is good.

There is a very complete article titled “Finding the Right Usenet Provider” that can be found here: http://binarynewshowto.com/pick-a-usenet-provider covering retention, reliability, speed, completion, spam filtering, and affordability, and compares several of the top usenet services on the market. The site also has several articles covering how to use newsgroups, which clients to use, and has other resources.

What program or service do you recommend for a usenet search engine?

Question by Freedom: What program or service do you recommend for a usenet search engine?
Hello,

I am very new to usenet. I’ve got a bandwidth limit (250 Gigabytes comcast) that I am trying to maintain, I’ve discovered that downloading the headers for newsgroups that I subscribe to can be massive. I discovered that there is a usenet search engine or two (hopefully more). The two that I have tried are grabit and usenet explorer. Both seem to do the job well, however I slightly lean more towards favoring grabit, their program seems faster, easier to use and their search seems more complete. I am hoping that there are more than these two to pick from, if you know of any, I’d love to hear about them.

Thank you.

There are several good search engines for usenet, some require a small fee (usually a few dollars a month), while others are free. There is a good list of search engines here: http://binarynewshowto.com/resources – this site also has good general usenet / newsgroups tutorials.

What is a good TV/DVD streaming service in Canada?

Question by po: What is a good TV/DVD streaming service in Canada?
I am looking for a service similar to netflix on demand where you can watch unlimited tv shows for a monthly premium, but for Canada. Does such a thing exist or are we still crippled with the licensing laws?

I don’t want a pay/episode service (like itunes) because the cost would be too great. I am totally sick of torrents, rapidshare, megavideo and whatnot. I don’t want a usenet account because I don’t want to deal with searching and downloading.

What are the differences between Public Service Announcements, News Stories, and Advertising?

Question by the “eggster”: What are the differences between Public Service Announcements, News Stories, and Advertising?

Best answer:

Answer by spotlite28
PSAs are free public announcements. Like the “The more you know..” spots on NBC. They usually deal with little bits of information like how much energy is saved when you just remember to turn off the computer.
News Stories are (Supposed to be) factual accounts of the events of the day. Information about the mayor’s speech, the findings in an arson investigation, the red cross blood drive. They tell you what happened and why most of the time.
Advertising is paid for. Commercials for Burger King or a furniture store. They’re commercials about products and services that you can buy.
Lots of stations also run promotions about things on their channel: their news, prime time TV programs and the like.

Which usenet service is best?

Question by Freedom: Which usenet service is best?
Hello,

Maybe not best, but most ideal? http://www.usenet-newsgroup.net/ < I was browsing this websites top ten list. I am almost 100% certain that I would be best getting an unlimited plan. I've been using torrents for a while now, the problem comes into play when I learned about comcast's 250GB data limit. It seems outrageous to be so small for such a fee. Unfortunately it's the only show in town for myself. I have always had a share ration of 1 to 2, but I have been a little too close to this 250GB limit several times, and with the advent of more and more HD content, I'd prefer to download more than I can without the need to seed or share.
Any recommended usenet services? Thank you!

The best “bang for your buck” may very well be your own ISP. Many still provide unlimited (almost) Usenet for free. I know Verizon does.

Good luck.

Are there any usenet service providers that are better than Easynews?

Question by werqwed: Are there any usenet service providers that are better than Easynews?
The main reason I really like Easynews is because of their great search options and overall user interface. Is there any USP out there with an unlimited gig pricing option that has the same type of user friendly interface as well as search options? Thanks.

CyberAlert Launches RushClipsTM New High Speed News Monitoring Service DeliversToday’s Press Clips Promptly Throughout the Day from 3,500 News Sources Worldwide

Stratford, CT (PRWEB) March 11, 2004

CyberAlert, Inc., a leading worldwide media monitoring service, today announced the launch of RushClipsTM, a new high speed news monitoring and press clipping service that automatically delivers today’s news clips promptly throughout the business day, often within minutes of publication.

The RushClips service monitors over 3,500 online news sources repeatedly during the business day and automatically delivers e-mail alerts with new clips throughout the day, enabling public relations and marketing professionals to keep watch on the day’s most-recently published news articles about their company, its brands, people and competitors.

“In delivering today’s press clips from throughout the world, RushClips represents a notable improvement over traditional press clipping services which don’t have such wide-ranging media coverage and take days or weeks to deliver news clips,” stated William J. Comcowich, President and CEO of CyberAlert. “Best of all, the RushClips service is considerably less expensive than conventional press clipping services which usually charge steep premiums for faster delivery.”

The RushClips service also incorporates once-a-day overnight clip delivery from 10,000 additional news sources in 17 languages. In total, RushClips monitors 13,000+ media outlets worldwide each day.

Once delivered, the press clippings are stored in a “Digital Clip BookTM”, an exclusive service of CyberAlert that safely keeps clips in a central database accessed through a password-protected Web site. The digital clip storage enables RushClips subscribers to easily sort, search, distribute and manage news clips.

“RushClips fills a vital need in today’s business environment where quick response to news stories is often crucial to PR and marketing success,” Comcowich said. “The RushClips’ alerts to breaking news from a wide variety of news sources enables public relations, public affairs, and marketing teams to quickly assess the reach and impact of news stories and to respond appropriately,” he concluded.

RushClips is a subscription service. More information about RushClips is available at http://www.cyberalert.com/rushclips.html.
