There is a very complete article titled “Finding the Right Usenet Provider” that can be found here: http://binarynewshowto.com/pick-a-usenet-provider covering retention, reliability, speed, completion, spam filtering, and affordability, and compares several of the top usenet services on the market. The site also has several articles covering how to use newsgroups, which clients to use, and has other resources.

How to access UseNet on Comcast?

Question by deepak2000: How to access UseNet on Comcast?
I am new to Comcast and UseNet both. Want to know how can I access UseNet? Are there any free news servers?

I’m not entirely sure but as far as I know Comcast is only a provider for internet, not for usenet. The easiest way I know to gain access to the usenet is www.usenext.com. The have pretty easy software and as long as you cancel within the trial period you won’t have to pay for it.

Answer by TechSono
The primary difference is that Usenet is a separate network. It can run independent of the internet, and uses the NNTP protocol as opposed to the web’s HTTP protocol. Usenet “binary” newsgroups can also contain files, 7.5 terabytes of files are uploaded/downloaded every day.

Here’s an Internet meme that’s older than the Internet. It’s from the mainframe/time share days. I first read it on USENET back in the 1980s. #oldfartcomputerstories
