Torrents vs Usenet – A Comparison between the two

Comparison between Usenet vs Torrents. In this video I show how both Torrents and Usenet work, and give you their advantages and disadvantages in the use of Legal & Illegal downloads. With Torrents (or Peer-to-Peer) you’re sharing data between multiple users and are relying on them to transfer data at a reasonable speed. Whereas with Usenet you’re connecting directly with a Newsgroup server and can download at high speed, and theres no need to share with other users. In the final part of the video I show the sort of content available on the NZB searcher NZB.su, there certainly is a large verity available, including: 3D Blurays, HD 1080P movies, DVDs, TV episodes, MP3 & FLAC Audio, Games (XBox360 / PS3 / Wii / PC / Android), and ebooks 0:01 Intro 1:36 How Torrenting Works 3:30 How Usenet Works 5:04 Look at NZB.su How to Setup SabNZBD to download from Usenet: youtu.be Wallpaper: imgur.com

Thousands of the infected Mac users had Sophos installed, this did not stop the infection. The users were infected because Apple didn’t patch their version of Java as soon as Oracle released the patch information. Google for “iama_a_malware_coder_and_botnet_operator_ama”. Look at his massive botnet and see how many of the bots run anti-virus. Take his valuable advice on-board.

A web browser and a programing language isn’t a antivirus. A Mac user would’ve been protected from it if they had something like Sophos installed. But even the smart Mac user thinks that Macs don’t get viruses when truthfully, every OS gets viruses. And swearing doesn’t hurt my cause either. It’s not my fault you can’t handle a few words. It’s not like I’m cursing every sentence.

Just like the sandbox in Java and Chrome? Oh wait, they’ve been circumvented multiple times. You should read about Chrome’s defeat at the pwn2own hacking contest. Java is meant to be a sandboxed environment, yet it was defeated and led to a 650k+ Mac botnet. Look at the wikipedia definition of 0day. Swearing isn’t going to help your cause.

What do you want a link to? I’ve already given you technical reasons as to why blocklists are useless. I think you need a little more experience before you’re ready to make a judgement. You haven’t provided a technical argument. Not sure what a YouTube profile has to do with it. Having such a profile is entirely optional. I’ve already given reasons as to why blocklists are useless. If you want to do people a favour, point them in the redirection of an offshore VPN or private torrent tracker.

And like I said, why would I believe a guy who doesn’t give me any links, who has a blank YouTube (just like trolls) and does nothing but argue with a random person about a topic that actually does help people.

If you respond only to factual information, why did you blatantly call me a liar. Getting back to the topic of antivirus software, have you ever heard of sandbox technology? More and more av software is getting a sandbox feature, which is how a lot more av software is becoming 0 day. Now like I’ve said all this time, ip blocklists do work FOR ME. I don’t give a fuck if they don’t work for you. You’re the one that started this argument and I’ve explained that plenty of times.

As in, they both have little to no effect. No need to resorting to insults and cursing just because you don’t have a technical argument. I only responded to pass on factual information. You have a lot to learn.

Use Mobloquer, ipblock, or Peerguardian Linux if you want safe torrenting on linux.

What is it with you and placebo? A drug and computers aren’t the same thing. I am ending this conversation on the note that I don’t care what a random ass person on YouTube who hid is fucking channel is telling me so. Don’t get you’re panties in a bunch and just leave this conversation. I wouldn’t be suprised that you are a IT pro who things downloading torrents is a bad thing and should be stopped. Do you have anything better to do other than argue about “why blocklists are evil”?

I didn’t same they’re all the same. 0day protection is pretty rare and often results in a lot of false positives. The term 0day has nothing to do with threats created on a particular day. You seem to have lulled yourself into a false sense of security, hence the usage of placebo products such as anti-virus and blocklists. Stuxnet, Duqu and Flame, all went undetected for years. The security solution for most people is to patch vulnerable software and use a decent browser such as Chrome.

Bwhahahaha! So what you are telling me that all antiviruses are the same! Lol. Look up Mrizos. He shows you that a lot of antivirus software can protect against 0 day threats (threats that were created that day). And like the blocklists, nobody would use an antivirus (like THE U.S. ARMY) if they didn’t work. The U.S. Army uses McAfee believe it or not.

Blocklists are a placebo, just like anti-virus. They do not protect against modern threats. Lots of people use anti-virus and still get infected. There is absolutely no way to find out the addresses of anti-piracy companies harvesting IPs from bittorrent swarms. As I pointed out before, they’re able to rent dedicated servers and residential connections. The only real protection is a proxy, such as a VPN service in Russia. Anyone with common sense would join a private bittorrent tracker.

I’m not the only one that does blocklists and never gets caught. My friend (thekiller2297) actually downloads movies, software and porn through torrents every single day. His isp did contact him twice about it, but he wasn’t using a blocklist or some other measures. I downloaded peerblock on his computer and he hasn’t had a call since. And if these blocklists don’t work, then why do so many people use them and why does people always say good things about them. They all can’t be lucky.

  14. dr34m3r2k #
    14

You’ve been lucky. It isn’t about how much you download. It’s about what you download and how long you remain in the swarm. It would be impossible for anti-piracy companies to monitor every single torrent out there.

This works for me. If I ever wanted to download a ton of movies or shows, I would ditch cable and start using usenet. But for now, I’m a torrenter. And for how much content I download, I know for sure that they would of contacted me about it.

Okay, what I meant to say was that the big companies use similar ips as there service. The bottom line is, I’ve used torrents for years, and I’ve used peerguardian for a good 3 years. Not once has Comcast contacted me in regards to illegal downloading (which they are know to do that a lot).

University peers can encrypt their traffic if they wish. They’re a good source of bandwidth. It would make no sense for Microsoft to use the same IP addresses as their website, in fact such a suggestion is hilarious because it isn’t technically feasible. For starters, they use massive load balancers. Employee traffic would never touch them. Some companies outsource anti-piracy work and everyone is aware of the existence of block lists. Your information is incorrect and might be harmful to others.

Use VPN or a Seedbox. Cheapest & easiest way is to use Deluge bit torrent client and use the IP Blocklist addon. Thanks

Just use htt ps at the beginning of the website address, e.g. htt ps://nzb. su

I’ll show it in a later vid, I’ve been meaning to do a review of Deluge for a while now

FYI, the universities normally have addresses to catch students if they are pirating in they’re dorm. And it depends on what company it is. If it is a big company like Microsoft, they have easy to find ips because they normally use the same ip as the website. Now with a small company, like Auslogics, they use residential computers. I have family that work with network management for different companies. I’ve talked to them about these kind of things.
