Writing python program to connect usenet?

Question by Leda Logan: Writing python program to connect usenet?
Hi, after getting news servers, can I write a python program all by myself to browse and post on usenet group? If that’s possible, could anyone gives out some tips how to do that? Thanks.

Sure, it’s possible. One of the standard library modules implements the client side of the NNTP protocol that netnews clients use to obtain articles from (and post articles to) servers, so that’s a big help. See http://docs.python.org/library/nntplib.html for details and examples.

Even so, writing a full-featured news reader isn’t a trivial task. If you haven’t done anything similar before then you might try tackling a few smaller projects first as a way of working up to this one.
