Edinburgh & East – Wednesday, November 16, 2011

A sheriff has issued a damning report into the way the emergency services conducted an operation to try and save a woman trapped down a disused mine shaft. In other news: Photographs of a Scottish model have been banned by the Advertising Watchdog because she appears underweight; plans have been submitted to erect huge Olympic rings on the ramparts of Edinburgh castle, but the proposal has sparked outrage; and in sport, Hearts have admitted they can’t afford to pay their players. A statement from the club says it is ‘looking at options to obtain funding for players salaries’. This is an international version of the news that may have been edited for rights reasons.
